Version 3.0

The Perfect Mac Utility for Viewing Microsoft Excel® and AppleWorks spreadsheet files.

Admit it. There are times when you need to be Microsoft Excel® compatible. If you do not have Excel installed or even if you have installed an old version, it gets frustrating trying to open those ".xls" or ".xlsx" files. Now you can open any Excel file with icXL!

Without buying and installing Microsoft Excel®, icXL enables any Mac user to:

  • Gain access to Microsoft® Excel files (PC or Mac created)
  • View downloaded Excel files from the Internet
  • Open email attachments from PC users
  • View on screen and print Excel spreadsheets with their original formatting preserved

icXL 3.0 works under Mac OS X (10.2 to 10.5) and is an easy solution to your "incompatibility" problems. For only $19.95, you can work with Excel files!

For Mac OS 9 users you may still use version 2.2 of icExcel.

A note on the name of the software. In previous versions (versions 1.x and 2.x) the software was called "icExcel" and we are still referring to this name when specifying an earlier version. We thought and still think that this was a fine name. In version 3.0 we have changed the name of the program from icExcel to icXL. This has been done at the strong request of Microsoft lawyers, as they thought that icExcel could be confused with Excel. We do not think the same, and in the four years that we have sold the product we have not heard a single customer complaining that thought he has purchased Microsoft Excel. However, we do not have the time or energy to fight Microsoft lawyers in court. As La Fontaine wrote in the 17th century << Selon que vous soyez puissant ou misérable, Les jugements de cour vous rendront blanc ou noir. >> Unfortunately, nothing has changed in the 21th century and it is actually getting worse, so we have changed the name; except for creating us a lot of work and commercial damage this change has no impact on the capabilities of the product.
