Panergy Ltd. Launches Two Utilities that Give Mac Users Access to Microsoft Office Files-- Without Using a Microsoft Product

icWord 2.0 surpasses file viewing and offers true file conversion for MS Word documents; icExcel 1.0 lets users open, view, export and print Excel files

Los Angeles, CA -- November 14, 2001 -- Panergy Ltd. today released two new utilities that let Mac users open, view, export and print Microsoft Office files, PC or Mac created, without having Microsoft applications installed on their computers. icWord 2.0 expands the functionality of "The Microsoft Word Viewer for the Mac" and now enables designers and publishers to convert Word documents to AppleWorks, RTF or text files for easy export into popular design programs. icExcel, "The Microsoft Excel viewer for the Mac," extends Panergy's technology to users who occasionally need to open, view, export and print Excel files without using Microsoft Excel. Both utilities make file sharing easier for Mac users living in a cross-platform, multi-application world.

Panergy's product launches coincide with the launch of Microsoft's new Office ad campaign targeting creative professionals, who are typically Mac enthusiasts resistant to purchasing Microsoft products. The success and widespread adoption of icWord, launched last year, underscores Microsoft's challenge in this market: Many users need to open Microsoft Office documents forwarded by colleagues and friends, yet they don't need or want the full capabilities of the Microsoft Office suite. Panergy offers these users solutions that are inexpensive, easy to use, and compatible with most Microsoft and Apple file formats. Their utilities' intuitive WYSIWYG functionality allows the opening, viewing, and printing of files in all European and Far East languages-- with the original formatting preserved.

"Graphics pros have been asking us for a way to get Word docs into Illustrator and Freehand without losing any formatting, and now we have something for them with icWord 2.0. The ability to save files in the RTF format will save time, money, and frustration. icWord 2.0's ability to open and convert AppleWorks files solves another common Mac user quandary," says Mickey Sonnenschein, Panergy's Director of Marketing. "Essentially, we're offering a Word and AppleWorks file converter for only $19.95."
